The textbook states, \"The analysis and design of virtually every type of transportation system involves the use of fluid mechanics. Aircraft, surface ships, submarines, rockets, and automobiles require the application of fluid mechanics in their design.\" (Hagen, pg 228-9). Explain what principles of fluid mechanics are at work in one of these transportation systems.
Solution
If you consider aircrafts their motions are all inlcuded and involved in the part of fluid mechanics called fluid dynamics. The drag forces, lift forces, boundary layers, aerodynamics of the flight etc are all the concepts or principles which makes it the part of fluid mechanics.
If you consider the surface ships the pressure on the ship, the buoyancy forces, bernoullis principle, archimedes law, pascals principles etc are all the principles which involves in design of ships and it all depends on the application and various other factors which are considered.
