The effectiveness of negative feedback loop is enhanced by the positive feedback mechanism. This is because the amplification of an action by positive feedback triggers negative feedback response.

For example, blood clotting is a sequential process accomplished by activation of clotting factors. The activation of clotting factors in turn activates several factors in a positive feedback cascade. The single change amplifies resulting in blood clot. The formation of clot prevents further loss of blood and results in completion of negative feedback loop restoring homeostasis.
