You are a network administrator responsible for all network

You are a network administrator responsible for all network platforms and services. You are investigating a TCP issue that is causing acknowledgments to be lost. How would TCP handle this problem since the sender retransmitted the unacknowledged TCP segment, therefore causing the receiving transport process to receive the same segment twice?

Solution

it depends on the window size if assuming window size is 1 so for every packet transfer by sender the receiver will send an ack that the pkt is received and if the ack is being loss then after a while the sender will send the same pkt again which is checked by the receiver and it will notice that this pkt received is the duplicate pkt of the previous pkt received so it will discard this pkt .
