Estimate how many books can be can be shelved in a college library with 3500m^2 of floor space assume 8 shelves high having books on both sides with coridors 1.5m wideassume books arc about the size of this one on average

Solution

Assume 50m*70m of floor space

Consider you require double book/shelf width

One book/shelf width=250mm+1.5m walk space i.e. around 2m

That allows 50/2= 25 corridors

Each corridor allow for 2 rows of books i.e. 2*25*70=3500m of book space

That amount goes 8 times(shelves/meter) i.e. 3500*8=28000m of book space

Per meter there are 100/4= 25 books

Total book capacity= 25*28000=700000m of book space

So, total number of books =700000

Estimate how many books can be can be shelved in a college library with 3500m^2 of floor space assume 8 shelves high having books on both sides with coridors 1
