In the investigation of Question 1, the following output considers the effect of driver gender and age group on In(acceleration). (a) BRIIFLY comment on the p-values and the plots in the above output (b) What is the value of R-sq(adj) telling us? (C) What other plot should we look at?

Solution

Comments on P-Values:

1. Effect of Gender of a driver: Since the P-value is greater than 0.05 then there is no significant difference

2. Effect of a Age of driver : Since the P-value is less than 0.05 (5% level of significance) then there is a significant difference.

3. Effect of both Gender and age of a driver: Since the P-value is less than 0.05 then there is a significant difference between between Gender and Age Group of a Driver.

b.  Adjusted R^2 is the modification of R^2 that adjusts the no of explanatory variables in the model. Unlike R^2.
Adjusted R^2 increases only if the new variables improves the model, more than would be expected by chance. But not R^2
Adjusted R^2 can be negative, will always less than or equal to the R^2

the value from the figure above, adj R2 is 2.598, since this has the positive value which improves the acceleration between the gender and age of a driver.

c. Plots from the above , we can also look at the increasing level in the acceleration of a gender and age group.
