In each part, sets A and B and a function from A to B are given. Determine whether the function is one-to-one or onto (or both or neither).

(4 5) In each part, sets A and B and a function from A to B are given Determine whether the function is one-to-one or onto (or both or neither) 2 3.4 5. A = {1.1, 7, 0.06), B ,, {p, q} ; f-{ (1.1, p), (7, q), (0.06, p) }

Solution

4.f={(1/2,x),(1/4,y),(1/3,w)}

here f has unique value foe each element in A so f is one-to -one

but there is no element in A that maps z in B so f is not onto

5.f={(1.1,p),(7,q),(0.06,p)}

here f has same value for 1.1,0.06 ie., f(1.1)=f(0.06)=p so f is not one-to -one

every element y in B has a corresponding element x in A such that f(x) = y so f is onto

In each part, sets A and B and a function from A to B are given. Determine whether the function is one-to-one or onto (or both or neither). (4 5) In each part,
