If the intrinsic rate of increase, r, is 0 for a population, what is the expected lifetime reproductive value for an individual in that population?

| A. | 0 |
| B. | 0.5 |
| C. | 1 |
| D. | 10 |
Solution
Intrinsic rate of increase (Malthusian parameter) R is calculated as below:-
R=B-D
Where,
B= Birth+ Immigration of that particular population
D= Death+Emigration of that particular population
Where we assumed that R is zero that is no difference between B and D. If B>D leads to growth of population but in our case no difernce between B and D leads to stable growth rate means zero reproductive value of individual.
Intrinsic rate of increase can be explained by various models and also depends on various parameters like age of that population, favourable factor for that population, etc.
Thanks..
