The wheels of a car have radius 14 in and are rotating at 60

The wheels of a car have radius 14 in. and are rotating at 600 rpm. Find the speed of the car in mi/h.

Solution

Angular speed = rev per min.(rpm)* 2pi = 600*2pi = 1200pi rad/min

Linear speed = angular speed *radius = 1200pi*14 = 52778.75 inch/min

1inch/min = 0.0000946 mi/hr

So, linear speed = 49.97 mi/hr
