Determine the enthalpy change when the temperature of 1 mole

Determine the enthalpy change when the temperature of 1 mole of toluene is raised from 300 C to 500 C. The toluene is considered at an ideal gas state.

Solution

Given:-

Mass of tolune = 1mole = 92.138 gm = 0.092138Kg

Temp change = 500-300 = 200 C

T1= 500C, T2= 300C

Enthalpy change = m Cp (T1 - T2)

= 0.092183 x 4.187 x 200

= 77.19 KJ---------------------------ANS
