A m=17kg block of a solid cools down by transferring heat at a rate of Q=2.25kW to the surroundings.

a) Determine the rate of change of the stored energy in the block.

b) Determine the rate of change of the internal energy of the block.

Solution

The rate of change is irrespective of the mass of the block.

Rate of cooling = 2.25 kW

So rate of change of stored energy will be -2.25kW as the same energy is getting lost in cooling.

Similarly rate of change of internal energy is also -2.25kw
