Why do antibodies accelerate the immune response?
Solution
Humoral immunity is mediated by serum antibodies which are protein secreted by the B-cell compartment of the immune response.B cells are initially activated to secrete antibodies after the binding of antigens to specific membrane immunoglobulin molecule. which are expressed by these cells. once bind the B-cells recieves signals to begin making the secreted form of immunoglobulin, a process that initiates the full blown antibody response whose purpose is to eliminate the antigen from the host. An antibody response is the of a series of interactions between macrophages, T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes. Infectious agent antigens are engulfed and partially degraded by antigen-presenting cells (APCs), such as macrophages, Langerhans cells, dendritic cells, lymph nodes and monocytes that protect the cells from the infection.
