The difference between single model and mixed model is as follows:

In the case of single model assembly line balancing only one model will be assembled in the assembly line whereas in the case of mixed-model assembly line balancing there is more than one model which will be assembled in the same assembly line. The choice of the model depends on the size and the need of the company.The responsiveness of a company to its customer needs forces and necessitates the use of mixed-model assembly line balancing. The case in which if a company manufactures more than one model then the implementation of the mixed-model assembly production would help the company to meet the demand of different models simultaneously. But again care should be taken to maintain the efficiency of the operation.
