According to me, the most important thing which is related to the memory is Encoding. It is a process or the biological event from where the perception begins through the senses which helps in seeing, hearing, understanding, forming memories and also storing those memories short term and for long term.. Encoding is a crucial step through which memories are formed and stored..

The activity of Encoding start with the paying attention which regulates the neuron for Encoding. The emotion also plays a important role in increasing or decreasing attention which is regulated by amygdala.

The perception also depends on the seeing, hearing, smelling etc which help in forming the clear image in the mind about the surroundings which helps in forming memories which could be short term first than long term..
