An individual whose cells have 36 chromosomes, how many chromosomes are present in the daughter cells after mitosis?

Solution

mitosis is the division of a parent cell into a daughter cell, and it will have the exact copy of chromosomes as of the parent cell. Mitosis occurs in 5 phases, they are interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. Interphase is the preparatory step for mitosis. in prophase, chromosomes recoils, nuclear membrane disappears and the spindle fibers start to appear. In metaphase chromosomes will be alligned in the equator for replication. In anaphase the the chromatids will get separated and the number of chromosomes will be doubled. here it will become 72. In telophase the chromosomes uncoils , nuclear membrane reappears and the cell will divide to two daughter cells. So each of the daughter cell will have 36 chromosomes.
