Determine the reactions at the bearing supports A, B,and C of the shaft. EI is constant. Each bearing exerts only vertical reactions on the shaft. Suppose that P = 350 N . (Figure 1)

>> Let Reaction at A, B & C = Ra, Rb & Rc respectively

>> Now, Total forces acting on the system are:

Ra, Rb & RC

and P = 350 N, at both pulley ends

>> Also, by symmetry it seems that when we considerd part AB (with 1st pulley) equal load P should be distributed at A & B , therefore each supporting P/2

Similarly when BC is considerd, due to symmetry equal load should be distributed at B & C, therefore each supporting P/2

So, Ra = Ay = P/2 = 175 N

Rb = By = P/2 + P/2 = P = 350 N

and, Rc = Cy = P/2 = 175 N
