Distinguish between pdependent and pindependent termination

Distinguish between p-dependent and p-independent termination of transcriptino in prokaryotes.

Solution

In p-dependent termination of transcription, involvement of p-factor is seen. p- factor acts as ATPase and terminate transcription and release the transcribed RNA.

In p-independent termination of transcription, the termination is initiated due to formation of hairpin by the newly synthesized RNA, that dissociated RNA polymerase from template and terminates the transcription process.
