Consider the following scatterplots and explain if it is appropriate to fit a linear regression model for the data shown in each scatterplot.

In figure 1 it would not be appropriate to fit a linear regression model, as from scatter plot we can clearly see that the data points do not a have a constantly increasing or decreasing attitude . Instead it seems to be increasing for the first half data and and decreasing for the second half.

In figure 2 we can estimate using linear regreesion model since all the points seem to pretty much fall on a straight line with a negative slope.
