Delta 32-mutation of CCR5 provide resistance to diseases caused by very different organisms such as HIV and bubonic plague because mutated CCR5 is going to produce a smaller receptor protein outside of the immune cells result in inability of “HIV or Bactrium Yersinia pestis that cause bubonic plague” to bind to CCR5 co-receptor protein.
