In statistics, a data set is called homogenous if it is made up of similar people, cells or traits.
For example, a data set made up of 19 year old school students enrolled for science stream is a homogeneous sample. Heterogeneous sample is just opposite of homogenous sample. While analysing a data set, it is called homogeneous if variables are either binary or categorical and if the variables are mixed ( having properties of both binary and categorical), then such data set is always heterogeneous.
