There are five types of organizational structures ie matrix structure, centralised/decentralised structure, hierarchical structure, tall structure and flat organizational structure.

Organising an organization into layers is known as flat organizational structure. In this type of structure, employees with more authority will be in the top layers and those with the least are in the bottom layer. The workers have greater communication with management and team spirit is present. Moreover due to less bureaucacy, decisions are made easily. This type of structure works well in small organizations or those with small number of job roles.
