What is random selection, and why is it important in your career field? I heard it has something to do with samples, populations, and generalization?

Solution

Random sampling mean, the method by which we collected samples for conclusion. It is important because it ovides biaseness. It removes the effects unobserved factors.

For example : Suppose you are going to find average height of students in your class. You know the all students in your class. Hence selection of students from you can not be unbiased. This will not give you good result.

Now suppose you are going to find average height of students from some another class where you don\'t the students in the class. Here selection of students will be random. And this will give you good results.

In our life, we draw conclusions about reality from a limited amount of experience.

Statistical generalization is the process where the scientist takes his or her conclusions, which are based on the observation of a limited number of cases, and extends these conclusions to cover all the other unobserved cases that fit in the same category. The set of limited observations is called the sample and the total number of cases is the population or universe .
