Find the probability of not getting a 7 or 11 total on either of two tosses of a pair of fair dice.

Solution

Rolling two distinct dice, there are 36 equally likely outcomes. Six of them render a 7 and two of them render an 11. The remaining 28 outcomes are nearther 7 nor 11.

P(not 7 or 11 on one roll) = 28/36 = 7/9

P(not 7 or 11 on either of two rolls) = (7/9)
