A building contractor is to dig a foundation 30 feet long, 18 feet wide, and 3 feet deep. The contractor pays $25 per load for trucks to remove the dirt. Each truck holds 6 cubic yards. What is the cost to the contractor to have all the dirt hauled away?

Solution

Given conditions

3 feet = 1 yard, therefore we have

Length = 30 feet = 10 yard

Width = 18 feet = 6 Yard

Depth = 3 feet = 1 Yard

the total volume excavated is 10*6*1 = 60 Yard3

Cost of removing 1 truck of dirt i.e 6 Cubic yards is $25

therefore for removing 60 cubic yards of dirt is $250.
