The following questions pertain to the circuit below. What is the equivalent resistance of the circuit? What is the current through resistor R_2? What is the power dissipated by resistor R_2?

  Solution
2) R1 and 20 ohm are in parallel to R120 = 5*20/25 =4 .
now R120 and 6 are in series, so R1206= 4+6=10
R1206 are in parallel with 5 and 10 so R1206510 = 10*15/25 = 6
Now R1206510 and 4 are in series so Rtot=6+4 =10
b)Current though Rtot = 50/10 = 5 ampere
so current through R1206510 is also 5 ampere.
Now R1206 and R25 is in parallel which has resistance eqv of 10 and 15. so current would be in inverse proportion. total current is 5 and current through R2 would be 2A.
c) current thougnh R1206 is 3A. so current through combination of R1 and 20 would be 3.
since they are in paralle so current would be inversely proportional to resistator. So current through 5 ohm R1 would be 2.4
