Solution

Radial distribution of velocity in tube with laminar flow is given by U=Umax(1-(r/r0)2).

Also average veleocity Uav = Umax /2.

Uav =Umax(1-(ra/r0)2) = Umax/2

(1-(ra/r0)2) = 1/2

(ra/r0)2 = 1-1/2=1/2

ra/ro =Sq root of (1/2)

ra = 0.707 ro
