Would you expect a pseudocoelom to be able to have the same
Would you expect a pseudocoelom to be able to have the same function as a coelom with respect to peristaltic movement? Why or why not?
Solution
Since the coelom is completely lined by mesodermal layer, presence of musculature facilitates peristalsis. Pseudocoelom is not completely lined with coelomic epithelical layers. So, the gut wall is made up of endodermis and is nonmusclular. This inhibits the peristalsis in the gut.
