You have a customer using a Windows XP Professional computer
You have a customer using a Windows XP Professional computer, and he wants to know if he can do a direct upgrade to any version of Windows 7. What do you tell him?
A. He can upgrade Windows XP Professional to Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate.
B. He can upgrade Windows XP Professional to Windows 7 Professional or Enterprise.
C. He can upgrade Windows XP Professional to Windows 7 Professional.
D. He cannot directly upgrade Windows XP Professional to any version of Windows 7.
Solution
D. There is no direct upgrade path for any version of Windows XP to any version of Windows 7. The most common upgrade path is to back up your data from the Window XP machine, do a clean install of Windows 7, then restore your data to the Windows 7 machine. The most common upgrade paths to Windows 7 are from their equivalent versions in Windows Vista; however, this is very expensive because you need licenses for both Vista and 7.
