Use the worked example above to help you solve this problem

Use the worked example above to help you solve this problem. Find I_1, I_2and I_3 in figure a, where epsilon = 11 v. Find the three currents in figure b, where R = 2.7 Ohm. (Note that the direction of one current may have been chosen wrongly!)

Solution

From Kirchoff\'s Junction rule

I3 = I1+I2

I1+I2-I3=0-----------------------------------equation 1

For loop abcda ,Applying Kirchoff\'s loop rule

10-6I1-2I3=0

6I1+2I3=10----------------------------------equation 2

For loop befcb ,Applying Kirchoff\'s loop rule

-4I2-11+6I1-10=0

6I1-4I2=21-------------------------------------equation 3

Solving 1,2 and 3 equations we get

I1=1.864 A

I2=-2.454 A

I3=-0.59 A
