The C value of the human genome is 3 pg. (a) Write the definition of C value

Solution

The total DNA present in a single haploid cell (both nuclear and cytosolic) is called C- Value. Generally in lower organisms like Bacteria and yeast, as the C- Value increase, complex nature of organisms also increased. But in higher organisms, there is no corelation between C- Value and complixcity. This lack of correlations between C-Value and Complexcity of organisms is called C- Value paradox.

Somatic cell interphase: 2n, Dipolid, 12pg, 46 chromosomes. It is due to occurance of DNA replication in S-phase of Interphase.

Somatic cell Anaphase: In anaphase, due to centromeric division, chromatids become separated. This leads to double the chromosome number. 4n, Tetraploid, 12pg and 92 chromosome
