Determine whether the value of x0 is a solution of the equat

Determine whether the value of x=0 is a solution of the equation. 5x-3 = 3x+5

Solution

5x - 3 = 3x + 5 . If we substtute x = 0 in this equation, we get 5*0 - 3 = 3*0 + 5 or, 0 - 3 = 0 + 5 or, - 3 = 5 which is incorrect. Therefore, x = 0 is not a solution of the equation 5x - 3 = 3x+ 5.

NOTE: If 5x - 3 = 3x + 5, then 5x - 3x = 5 + 3, or, 2x = 8 or x = 4. This is the only (unique) solution of the given equation.

Determine whether the value of x=0 is a solution of the equation. 5x-3 = 3x+5Solution5x - 3 = 3x + 5 . If we substtute x = 0 in this equation, we get 5*0 - 3 =
