Saturated water vapor at 350degreeC is heated at constant pressure until its volume has doubled. Determine the final temperature using (a) the ideal gas equation of state. (b) the compressibility charts, and (c) the steam tables.

Solution

a) from ideal gas equation PV=nRT

PV=nR*(273+350).............(1)

P(2V)=nR*T.........................(2)

dividing eq (1) by eq (2)

1/2    = (273+350) / T

T= 1246K

from compressibility chart and steam tables temperature results can be obtained.
