The DNA in the nucleosome crystal structure is most higly ordered. It is often referred to as a structure similar to that of a thread wrapped around a spool. Nucelosome is the basic packaging of DNA in which the segment of DNA is wrapped around 8 units of histone proteins. These are the most fundamental units of DNA packaging.
