4. A student proposes to reduce the size of the concrete cubes from each side 150mm to each side 100mm in order to save materials. Discuss on the results of the compression test if such amendment is accepted. Also, discuss briefly in what situation each side 100mm is more applicable than each side 150mm.

Solution

Generally , strength of concrete increases with reduction in its size . so , 100mm cube have higher strength than 150 mm cube .

100mm size cubes are used in case of high strength grade concrete.
