8. Calculate the cubic yards OD with 3/8 inch wall thickness and were driven 70 feet. Also calculate the weight in pounds of reinforcing steel in the one cap. What is the allowable load capacity of this pile cap? Sce attached engineering specifications 7-9 7-9 PC5 DEPTH: 43

Solution

Given

Pile schedule

Number of piles- 5

Depth of pile- 70 ft

Outer diameter-10.75 inch

width-                 -.375 inch

concreting dia of pipe or inner diameter- 10.75-.375= 10.375 inch= 10.375*.08= .83 feet I( 1inch = .08 feet)

Length of PC5- 7\'9\"=7.72 feet

Width= 7.72 feet

depth-= 43\" = 3.44 feet

VOLUME OF CONCRETE= volume of concrete in base+ volume of concree in pile

                                       = (l+b+h) + (3.14*d2/4* no. of piles)

                                        = (7 .72*7.72*3.44) + (3.14*.832/4*5) = 394.28 ft3

           CONCRETE QUANTITY            = 14.5 yards (as 1ft3=.037yard3)

Quantity of steel = As the drawing not clear but steel can be calculated as

                              =length * no. of bars*weight

From figure 3*13 bars #8 having length 7\' 3\" weight 2.67 kg/m3

So weight of steel= 3*13*2.2*2.67=229 kg= 504 pound ( 1 kg=2.204 pound)

 8. Calculate the cubic yards OD with 3/8 inch wall thickness and were driven 70 feet. Also calculate the weight in pounds of reinforcing steel in the one cap.
