tan u940 and it is in Quadrant 2 given this what is sin u2 c

tan u=-9/40 and it is in Quadrant 2

given this, what is sin u/2, cos u/2 and tan u/2

Solution

tan u=-9/40 and it is in Quadrant 2

cosu = -40/41

sin u/2:

use the formula : sin(u/2) = sqrt{ (1+cosu)/2}

= sqrt{( 1-+40/41)/2}

= sqrt{81/82)

= 9/sqrt82

cos u/2

cos2x = 2cos^2x -1

use the formula : cos(u/2) = sqrt{ (cosu+1)/2}

= sqrt{(-40/41 +1)/2

= sqrt(1/82)

= 1/sqrt82

and tan u/2 = sinu/2/cosu/2 = 9/1 = 9

tan u=-9/40 and it is in Quadrant 2 given this, what is sin u/2, cos u/2 and tan u/2Solutiontan u=-9/40 and it is in Quadrant 2 cosu = -40/41 sin u/2: use the f
