A bag contains 6 apples, 4 pears and 2 donuts. You reach in and take 3 items at random. Find the probability that:

1. you have 3 apples

2. have at least one donut

Solution

6 apples
4 pears
2 donuts

P(3 apples) = (6C3) / (12C3) = 1/11 --> answer 1

P(atleast one donut) = 1 - P(no donuts)

P(no donuts) = (10C3) / (12C3) = 6/11

P(atleast one donut) = 1 - 6/11 ---> 5/11 ---> answer 2
