How do reflexive behaviors work with regards to the autonomic nervous system?
Solution
Answer:
Replexive behavior, also referred to as involuntary behavior such as secretion of gastric juice or blinking of eye. The involuntary action of reflexive behavior may involve the cortex after the motor response has occured.
Reflexive behavior involves the autonomic nervous system along with smooth muscles and glands. Reflex arc is also a type of reflexive behavior which has been widely studied. Upon application of a stimuli (high temperature on the hand for example) the sensory information travels along spinal nerves to the spinal cord and to the motor nuclei by the interneurons. The motor command travels along the axon of the lower motor neurons causing the hand to be moved.
