Chapter 7 and 8
Question: Position power stems from appointment or election ( True or False)
Solution
Poistional power do stems from appointment or election to a post or position. A person appointed as a director in an organization has the power to take final decision despite various arguments put up by other members of the department. This power is associated with the position hold by the director.
For example a person is apponited as the director of marketing in a company. The director has the responsibility to overview various processes going on in the marketing department. Some employees after doing research gave a conclusion to take a certain step regarding a project. But if the director found the step to be not feasible or profitable, then the director can stop it and take some other step.
This power to take decision is given due to him being appointed or elected as the director of marketing.
Thus, position power stems from the appointment or election.
