Solution

Ans) To find total resistance seen by the voltage source ,remove the voltage source V1 and find equivalent resistance

R3 in series with R4 gives=R3+R4=4k+12k=16k ohms

Now (R3+R4) in parallel with R2 gives Rx=(R3+R4)*R2/(R2+R3+R4)=16k*7k/(16k+7k)

Rx=4.869k ohms or (112/23)k ohms

Now total resistance seen by the voltage source Rt=R1+Rx=10k+4.869k=14.869k ohms or (342/23)k ohms

Rt=14.869k ohms or (342/23)k ohms
