What is fuel injection? Would there be any specific benefit to using it the engine tom down in class bearing cost considerations in mind and typical operation modes (idle/full power) for the engine?

Solution

fuel injected means the fuel is injected through a fuel injector directly into the intake port of the cylinder head or the throttle body either sequentially or multi point

fuel injectors use a nozzle a solenoid and a spring
the computer sprays the fuel by supplying voltage and amps to the solenoid which attracts the plunger which allows fuel to flow by spraying it at high pressure through a small nozzle

for the computer to know how much fuel is needed it uses a mass air flow sensor which measures the mass of air passing through the throttle body( per 14.7 pounds of air 1 pound of fuel is injected) then it uses an oxygen at the exhaust manifold to measure how much oxygen is in the exhaust then the computer adjusts the air fuel ratio depending on the emissions

this way is better than carburation because it is more accurate and emission friendly but sme high performance cars use carburation because it can put more air fuel into the engine.

INITIAL TEARDOWN

As SCR tore down the engine, they gave us their thoughts on what they found. Though it did have just 18,000 miles, there was no sign of excessive wear on bearings, sides of the pistons, cylinder bores and crank journals. Not too surprising, but if any areas of concern were rearing their heads that would be a focal point for us to address during the build.
