What variables alter increase or decrease a microbes growth

What variables alter (increase or decrease) a microbes’ growth curve?

Solution

The variables are:

1) Temparature:Mainly very high and very low temparature tendto reduce bacterial growth rate, specific range of temparature is mainly suitable for bacterial growth and growth curve exceptions are psychrophiles.

2) Nutrient availability:If nutrient avalilabilty is suffient then the bacterial growh will be on the higher side and if it is low bacterial growth willbe lower.

3)Metabolic wastes: If in the culture medium amount of metabolic waste products are larger in amount bacterial growth will be lower.

4)Acidity: Optimum pH for bacterial growth is around 6.5 to 7.0.In acidic condition bacteria growth decreases exceptions are acidophiles.
