Can someone help me decipher this code? Please explain how to solve so that I can figure out the next one. Thanks!
1. There are 3 consonants and 3 vowels in the language. 2. Each symbol (2 digit number) stands for one CV syllable. Different two digit numbers stand for different syllables. This script is thus a syllabary 3. Each stem in the language is of the form CVCVC 4. Each suffix is of the form VCV. Suffixes that share the same final syllable are the same suffix 5. You have one crib: 18 15 stands for bigudo. 11 15 18 12 18 12 15 17 15 15 11 16 1 15 16 17 18 12 13 16 15 15 12 17 11 15 14 16 18 12 17 12 15 15 19 12 In your answer, include a 3X3 chart with the consonants on one axis and the vowels on another and in the space associated with that CV combination you will put the symbol (two digit number) for that syllable.Solution
b
Since the suffices with same final syllable are same suffices. Lets find out these. If we look closely with same final syllable:
18 12, 17 12 and 19 12: since 18 indicates \"bi\" so V part of 17 and 19 must also be \'i\' as VCV is same in all these.
Similarly, 15 17, 16 17 and 12 17: since 15 indicates \"gu\" so 16 and 12 must have \'u\'.
And, 11 16, 13 16 and 14 16: 11 indicates \"do\" so must be there in 13 and 14.
Now if look at the stem part i.e. CVCVC:
11 15 18 is \"do gu bi\"
so, 11 15 16 must be \"do gu bV\" and V part of 16 is \'u\' so 16 is bu.
Using the same logic, others are sorted out.
| i | o | u | |
| b | 18 | 14 | 16 |
| d | 19 | 11 | 12 |
| g | 17 | 13 | 15 |
