For the circuit shown in Figure P2.22: a. Determine which components are absorbing power and which are delivering power. b. Is conservation of power satisfied? Explain your answer.

Solution

Ans) For element E Power=2*10=20 W +2 because current entering into positive of 10 V

So Power is positive so it is absorbed by element E

For element D Power=3*10=30 W

So Power is positive so it is absorbed by element D

Using KCL current through A B and C is 2+3=5 A

For element B Power=-5*3=-15 W -5 because current leave from positive side of Voltage

So Power is negative so it is delivered by element B

For element C Power=5*5=25 W

So Power is positive so it is absorbed by element C

Using KVL voltage across element A is =10-3+5=12 V

For element A Power=-5*12=-60 W

So Power is negative so it is delivered by element A

So Components A and B are delivering power whereas C,D,E are absorbing power

b)For conservation of power

power Delivered=power absorbed

15+60=20+30+25

75=75

Hence it satisfies law of conservation
