What is the thrust in units of kN developed for each engine? For problem #3, what is the normal reaction at point A where the nose of the plane is in contact with ground in units of kN?

Solution

3) v^2 = 2 * a * s

   100^2 = 2 * a * 500

   a   = 10 m/s^2

   Thrust per engine   = m * a / 4 = 150*10^3 * 10 / 4 = 375000 kN

4)   Vertical force balance

      Ra + Rb = 150000 * 9.8

      Moment Balance about B

      Ra * 37.5   = 150000 * 9.8 * 7.5

      Ra   = 294 kN
