If NADP+ were unable to be reduced,NADPH would not be formed.NADPH having high energy is used in photosynthesis and acts as a reducing agent in the synthesis of nucleic acid and lipids,synthesis of fatty acids.Also, NADPH functions in protection against ROS.Without NADPH formation, these processes will be hindered.NADPH is oxidised to form NADP+ that acts as a cofactor in many biological reactions.Since,NADPH and NADP+ together help in maintaining cellular activities, prevention of oxidation of NADPH and reduction of NADP+ will hinder cellular functions such as cell survival, ROS status and cell signalling.
