Which of the following is not a product of the light reactions of photosynthesis?
oxygen
ATP
sugar
NADPH
All of the following colors of light are used for photosynthesis except
orange

If you are heterozygous for sickle-cell anemia, you will be more likely to get malaria.
True
False
Asexual reproduction produces genetically identical individuals because
cell division occurs only in meiosis
no meiosis or fertilization take place
chromosomes do not have to replicate during asexual reproduction
it involves chromosome replication without cytokinesis
Animals inhale air containing oxygen and exhale air with less oxygen and more carbon dioxide. Plants use the carbon dioxide to make
ATP
water
oxygen
sugar
When does crossing over occur?
prophase I
metaphase I
prophase II
anaphase I

Solution
1. Sugar is not a product of light reaction because it produces in dark reaction. Oxygen, ATP, NADPH are the actual products of light reaction.
2. Green color is not utilized in photosynthesis because green color is reflected out from the leaf surface and remaining colors are absorbed by the pigment molecules involved in photosynthesis. Rate of photosynthesis is high at Blue and red light followed by orange (is absorbed by carotene pigment)
3. False. Heterozygous sickle cell anemia gives resistance against malaria parasite that infects red blood cell. If the red blood cell become sickle shaped plasmodium is unable to live there. Sickle cell anemia become problem only when it is homozygous, because all red blood cells become sickle shaped and reduces the oxygen carrying capacity. But in heterozygous condition only 50% RBC become sickle and remaining supplies the oxygen.
4. Asexual reproduction produces genetically identical individuals because meiosis do not occurs and fertilization is absent. If both meiosis and fertilization occurs it leads to variations.
5. Plants used carbon dioxide to make sugar. Carbon dioxide undergo reduction reaction to convert into sugar during photosynthesis.
6. In meiosis crossing over occurs at prophase I. Prophase I has sub stages like leptotene, zygotene, pachytene and diakinesis. Among these substages, during pachytene crossing over and genetic material exchange occurs.
