*** When we provide power or do any work on a system, then that Power or Work is negative

*** When system produces any power or work , then that Power or Work is positive.

>> In compressor, it\'s main aim is to compress the gas,

i.e. to reduce the volume

For this , system has to do work on gas and for that Power has to be supplied to System.

So, Power associated with compression of steam in a compressor is expectd to be a Negative term.....
