Why would one conduct a study that is ultimately destined to be meaningless regardless of its significance level?
Solution
Sometimes the study is done not for the purpose of coming to some conclusion but to get a better understanding of the behavior of the objects involved in study.
Suppose we conduct a study for the time period of the earth rotaion about the sun. We all know that it is 24 hrs, but still conducting such study would give us some idea of the motion of the earth around sun. May be we observe that the time period fluctuates a bit on some day, but for a large time period it will be 24 hrs only.
So, such studies give us idea of behavior of objects in the study regardless of significance level.
This is also done to strengthen the natural fact of occurance of an event.
