1 50 points Consider the resistive circuit shown to the righ

1) (50 points) Consider the resistive circuit shown to the right. 17 R4 2 14 R1 10 ohms R2 100 ohms R3 50 ohms R4 150 ohms R5 200 ohms V1 240 Volts V2 20 Volts 12 R5 15 V2 R313 R1 The switch is initially connected to point f. Souce V2 is not in the circuit. Assume the switch has zero resistance. a) Write the KCL equation for the node b (4 pts) b) Write a KVL equation for the loop g-b-c-de-f-g (4 pts) c) Write the KVL equations for the loop bdeb (4 pts) d How should current I1 compare to current 12: 11> 1211-1211

Solution

Ans- a) KCL for node b => I1 = I3 + I5 + I2

(All incoming current is equal to outgoing current)

b) KVL for g-b-c-d-e-f-g => V1 - I1R1 - I2R2 = 0

c) KVL for b-d-c-b =>   - I3R3- I4R4 + I2R2 = 0

d) I1 is the current in the main branch while I2 is the current in one of the branch parallel to the other two branches. The main current I1 is split among the three branches. Thus I1 > I2
