For which values of x is the following function continuous? If it is not continuous, state why. Please show your work.

f(x) = (x^2 + 3x + 5)/(x^2 + 3x - 5)

Solution

it is not continous when denominator in fraction is zero so x^2+3x-5 = 0 => x = -3+ sqrt(9+20)/ 2 , -3- sqrt(9+20)/2 = -3+sqrt(29)/ 2 , -3- sqrt(29)/2
